St. Thomas man arrested for Impaired Driving

Brantford Police Service received a 911 call from a concerned citizen to advise of a possible impaired driver at a Dalhousie Street location at approximately 2:10 a.m. on Sunday, August 14, 2022.

The caller reported that a motor vehicle was stopped in the middle of the road, with a man passed out in the driver’s seat. A description of the vehicle was provided. Police arrived on scene and located the subject vehicle pulled over on the left shoulder of the roadway. The motor vehicle was occupied by the accused.

In speaking with the accused, officers observed signs of impairment. The accused was required to provide a sample of breath into an Approved Roadside Screening Device, which registered a fail.

The accused was arrested and transported to provide samples of breath as required by law.

Both samples provided were over twice the legal limit.

As a result of police investigation, a 28-year-old man from St. Thomas stands charged with the following Criminal Code violation:

  • 80 Plus

Additionally, the accused’s driver’s licence was suspended, and the subject vehicle impounded.

36-year-old charged after motor vehicle collision

On Sunday, August 14, 2022, at approximately 1:00 a.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend the area of St. James Street and Albion Street for a motor vehicle collision. 

Police arrived on scene and located two vehicles with significant damage. 

Officers observed signs of impairment when speaking with one of the drivers, who was then required to provide a sample of his breath into an Approved Screening Device.

The sample provided registered a fail. 

As a result of the investigation, a 36-year-old man from Troy, stands charged with the following Criminal Code offences: 

  • 80 Plus
  • Dangerous Operation

Additionally, the accused’s driver’s licence was suspended, and the subject vehicle impounded.

Brantford Police charge Collingwood man with Operation while Impaired

Brantford Police were dispatched to attend the parking lot of a fast-food restaurant located at Wayne Gretzky Parkway and Edmondson Street in regard to a possible impaired driver on Friday, August 12, 2022.

Officers attended and located the accused man within the subject vehicle. Officers observed signed of impairment.

The accused was arrested and transported to provide samples of breath as required by law.

The accused refused to provide samples of breath.

As a result, a 33-year-old man from Collingwood, stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations: 

  • Operation while Impaired
  • Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand

Additionally, the accused’s driver’s licence was suspended, and the subject vehicle impounded.

Brantford man charged with Operation while Impaired (Drugs)

Officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend the area of Powerline Road and King George Road regarding a single motor vehicle collision at approximately 10:15 p.m. on Thursday, August 11, 2022.

Police attended and located the vehicle in the ditch with the accused unconscious and unresponsive in the driver’s seat of the vehicle.

Paramedics arrived on scene to provide medical attention to the accused, who then became alert and conscious.

The accused was then transported to hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Police subsequently formed reasonable and probable grounds that the accused was impaired by drugs. The accused was then arrested.

A drug recognition expert evaluation was performed. It was determined that the accused’s ability to operate a conveyance was impaired by drugs.

The accused refused to comply with the demand for further testing as required by law. 

As a result, a 30-year-old man from Brantford stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:

  • Operation while Impaired (drugs)
  • Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand

Additionally, the accused’s driver’s licence was suspended, and the subject vehicle impounded.

23-year-old Brantford woman facing several charges after motor vehicle collision

Officers with the Brantford Police Service responded to the area of West Street and Sheridan Street, for a motor vehicle collision at approximately 4:30 a.m. on Monday, August 8, 2022,

Officers arrived on scene and located the accused, occupying the driver’s seat of her motor vehicle. Investigation revealed that the subject motor vehicle was travelling southbound on West Street when it crossed to the opposite side of the road and struck two parked motor vehicles.

In speaking with the accused, officers observed signs of impairment. The accused was then placed under arrest for Operation while Impaired and transported to provide samples of breath as required by law. 

Both samples provided were over the legal limit.

Additionally, information was received to indicate that the accused was a G1 licenced driver and was also in violation of a valid Probation Order.

Search incident to arrest found the accused in possession of approximately 18 grams of suspected Methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $2,730. 

As a result of the investigation, a 23-year-old female from Brantford stands charged with the following:

  • 80 Plus, contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Operation while Impaired, contrary to the Criminal Code 
  • Failure to comply with Probation Order, contrary to the Criminal Code, and 
  • Possession of Schedule I, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act 

Summons for the following Highway Traffic Act offences were also served: 

  • Class G1 licence holder – unaccompanied driver 
  • Class G1 licence holder – drive unlawful hour 
  • Novice Driver – B.A.C. above zero 

Additionally, the driver’s licence of the accused was suspended, and the vehicle impounded.
