Brantford man facing several charges after single vehicle collision
On Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at approximately 1:15 a.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched after receiving several 911 calls to report a single vehicle collision in the area of Hill Street and Icomm Drive.
A vehicle was reported to have been travelling at a high rate of speed when it struck a light post.
Officers attended and located a male occupying the driver’s seat. The vehicle did not have licence plates. Signs of impairment were observed by the officers.
The accused was arrested and transported to provide samples of breath as required by law. Both samples provided were over twice the legal limit.
Information received indicated the driver was bound by the restrictions of a G2 licence.
Search incident to arrest located an empty liquor bottle within the vehicle.
As a result, a 28-year-old male resident of Brantford stands charged with the following Criminal Code, Highway Traffic Act and Liquor Licence Control Act violations:
- Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
- Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration
- Drive Motor Vehicle, No Plates
- Driving Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor Readily Available Act
- Class G2 Licence Holder – B.A.C. Above Zero
Additionally, the driver’s licence of the accused was suspended, and the motor vehicle impounded.
Brantford man facing Operation while Impaired charges
Uniform patrol officers with the Brantford Police Service observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on King George Road near Queensway Drive at approximately 10:45 p.m. on Sunday, September 24, 2023.
A traffic stop was initiated however, the driver failed to initially stop for police.
The driver continued for a short distance, stopping for officers at St. George Street. Officers observed signs of impairment when speaking with the driver. Open alcohol was observed to be readily available within the vehicle.
The accused was arrested and transported to provide samples of breath as required by law. Both samples provided were over the twice the legal limit.
As a result, a 28-year-old male from Brantford stands charged with the following Criminal Code and Liquor Licence Control Act violations:
- Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration
- Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
- Driver Fail to Stop When Directed by Police
- Driving Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor Readily Available.
Additionally, the driver’s licence of the accused was suspended, and the motor vehicle impounded.
Brantford Police charge man with Impaired Operation
On Saturday, September 23, 2023, at approximately 8:00 a.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to the area of Park Road North and Powerline Road, after receiving a report of a single motor vehicle collision involving a possible impaired driver.
Officers attended, locating the vehicle and the driver. Speaking with the driver, officers observed signs of impairment. Drug paraphernalia was observed in clear view by the attending officer.
The accused was then arrested and transported for evaluation by a Drug Recognition Expert. Testing indicated the accused was impaired by drug.
As a result, a 48-year-old male non-resident of Brantford stands charged with the following Criminal Code violation:
- Operation of a Motor Vehicle While Impaired by Drug
Additionally, the driver’s licence of the accused was suspended, and the motor vehicle impounded.
Police charge Brantford man after erratic driving
officers with the Brantford Police Service received a report from a concerned citizen to advise of a possible impaired driver in the area of Wilmot Road and Gillespie Drive at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Friday, September 22, 2023.
The driver was reported to be operating his vehicle in an erratic and dangerous manner. Officers attended, located the suspect vehicle and the accused driver.
Speaking with the driver, officers observed signs of impairment. The accused was arrested and transported to provide samples of breath as required by law. Both samples provided were over double the legal limit.
As a result, 41-year-old male resident of Brantford is charged with the following Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act violations:
- Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drug
- Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration
- Dangerous Operation
Additionally, the driver’s licence of the accused was suspended, and the motor vehicle impounded.
24-year-old facing Operation while Impaired charges
On Friday, September 22, 2023, at approximately 2:00 a.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were performing proactive patrol near the intersection of Wayne Gretzky Parkway and Elgin Street when a vehicle was observed travelling in an erratic manner.
A traffic stop was initiated to determine sobriety of the driver.
Speaking with the driver, officers observed signs of impairment. Open alcohol bottles were observed in clear view of the officer.
The accused was arrested and transported to provide samples of breath as required by law. Both samples of breath were over twice the legal limit.
As a result, a 24-year male from Brantford stands charged with the following Criminal Code and Liquor Licence Control Act violations:
- Operation While Impaired – Alcohol
- Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol
- Driving Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor
