Brantford Police ServiceBrantford Police respond to report of armed break-in

Officers with the Brantford police were dispatched after receiving a call to report a man with a firearm was observed in the area of Sheridan Street and Stanley Street at approximately 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 24, 2025.

Out of an abundance of caution, two area schools were temporarily placed in hold and secure.

Upon arrival, it was determined that a break and enter had occurred at a Sheridan Street home and the resident, who had a firearm, chased the suspect from the home.

While searching the area for the two suspects, officers encountered a male who matched the description of the armed suspect. The individual was briefly detained and released as soon as identity was confirmed.

Currently, police have one suspect in custody and the second suspect, who is wanted for the break-in, remains outstanding. A suspect description for this person is not available at this time. Charges have not yet been laid in this investigation.
