Officers with the Brantford Police Service have arrested a 27-year-old man from Brantford for an early morning assault and stabbing. 

Officers with the Brantford Police Service responded to a report of an assault and stabbing of a man in the area of Victoria Park at approximately 1:20 a.m. on Friday, July 18, 2025.

It was reported that a man approached the male victim, who was assaulted and stabbed in the park. The suspect then fled on foot to a nearby Wellington Street apartment building, where it was reported he had entered an unlocked apartment in an attempt to hide from police.

Officers attended the apartment building where, with the assistance of BPS K-9 unit, the suspect was arrested without incident. The knife was located and seized by police.

The victim was transported to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

As a result, a 27-year-old man from Brantford was arrested and stands charged with the following: Assault with a Weapon, Assault Causing Bodily Harm, Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose x 2 and Unlawfully in Dwelling.

The accused was held for a bail hearing.
