Brantford Police Service is reminding drivers of the dangers and consequences of impaired driving after officers arrested 20 individuals for impaired operation of a motor vehicle during the month of August
Many of the drivers arrested were found to be well over the legal limit, posing a serious risk to themselves and others on the road. These arrests highlight the ongoing risks posed by drivers who choose to operate a vehicle while impaired.
“Impaired driving, whether from alcohol or drugs, continues to be one of the leading causes of preventable injuries and deaths on our roadways,” said Robin Matthews-Osmond, Corporate Communications Manager. “Every time someone chooses to drive while impaired, they put their life and the lives of others at risk.”
Drivers are reminded that impaired operation can result from alcohol, drugs, or a combination of both. The penalties for impaired driving include immediate license suspensions, vehicle impoundment, significant fines, and possible jail time.
The Brantford Police Service would like to thank the concerned citizens who called to report possible impaired drivers. Anyone who believes they are observing an impaired driver are asked to please contact 911. Road safety is a shared responsibility.
