Officers with the Brantford Police Service were conducting speed enforcement on Wright Street at Hardy Road when a motorist was observed travelling at a very high rate of speed at approximately 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 28, 2023.

The motor vehicle was recorded travelling at 119 km/hr in a 50km/hr zone.

A traffic stop was initiated, and further investigation revealed that the permit for the vehicle had expired. The accused was also not able to produce a valid insurance card for the motor vehicle.

As a result, a 26-year-old man from Brantford stands charged with the following:

  • Driver motor vehicle preform stunt – speeding by 40 or more km/hr. 
  • Speeding – travelling 119 Km/h in a posted 50 km/h zone contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
  • Drive Motor Vehicle – no currently validated permit, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
  • Fail to Surrender Insurance card, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

Additionally, the vehicle was impounded for 14 days, and the driver’s licence was suspended for 30 days.
