Officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a report of an attempted robbery of a financial institution located at Colborne Street and Icomm Drive at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 11, 2023.

It was reported that a man had entered the bank with his face concealed and brandished a knife towards staff before fleeing on foot.

Officers arrived on scene and searched the area for the suspect but were unable to locate the man.

On Saturday, August 12, 2023, at approximately 5:00 p.m., the suspect was located by members of the Brantford Police Park Patrol Unit at a Dalhousie Street location.

The accused was arrested by officers. During the search incident to arrest, the knife alleged to have been used in the offence was located in possession of the accused and seized by police.

Upon further investigation, it was learned that the accused was in violation of two separate Probation Orders.

As a result, a 42-year-old male resident of Brantford stands charges with the following Criminal Code offences.

  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Disguise with Intent
  • Probation Order: Non-Compliance x 2

The accused was held for bail.
