Brantford man facing Assault and Weapons charges

Officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched after receiving a call regarding an assault in the area of Sheridan Street at approximately 3:45 p.m. on Sunday, April 2, 2023.

Investigation revealed that the accused man is alleged to have struck a male victim in the face with a shovel. The victim received minor injuries as a result of the incident.

Both men were known to each other.

Officers attended and located the accused nearby, in possession of the shovel.

Information received indicated the accused was bound by a current probation order.

As a result of this investigation, a 35-year-old man from Brantford, was arrested and stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations: 

  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Assault with A Weapon 
  • Breach Probation 

The accused was held for bail.
