Officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched after receiving reports from concerned citizens of a man with a gun outside a Darling Street location at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 22, 2023.

Reports were received to advise that the man had also allegedly damaged property (garbage cans and a salt bin) and slashed the tires of five vehicles. 

Arriving on scene, officers located the suspect nearby and initiated an arrest. The suspect resisted.

It was determined that the firearm observed was a pellet gun. Search incident to arrest located a knife in possession of the accused.

Information received found the accused in violation of a valid recognizance and valid peace bond. 

As a result of the investigation, a 36-year-old man from Brantford stands charged with the following Criminal Code offences: 

  • Breach of Recognizance 
  • Disobeying Court Order
  • Resist Arrest
  • Mischief Under $5,000 x 7
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose (knife)
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose (pellet gun)

The accused was held for bail.
