Brantford man charged with arson

On Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at approximately 8:00 a.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service responded to a report from a concerned citizen who observed a man deliberately starting a fire at a location on Queen Street.
 A citizen had observed a male pouring gasoline from a gas can onto the sidewalk and garbage cans in front of a building on Queen Street. The accused was then observed igniting the gasoline. 
 Officers attended and located the accused nearby. The accused was arrested at approximately 8:15 a.m. 
 Brantford Fire attended and quickly extinguished the fire. 
 Search incident to arrest determined the accused was in possession of a small amount of suspect crystal methamphetamine.
 Information received indicated that the accused was in violation of a valid probation order.
 As a result, Bruce Wayne WILSON, 34 of Brantford, stands charged with the following:
  • Arson – Damage to Property contrary to the Criminal Code 
  • Breach of Probation contrary to the Criminal Code and 
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
The accused was held for bail.
