Brant OPPBrant County OPP charge Ohsweken man with Mischief

Brant County Ontario Provincial Police responded to a mischief call at the walking path west of the intersection of Mount Pleasant Road and Ellis Avenue at approximately 3:55 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21, 2024.

A complainant reported witnessing a male individual vandalizing an electrical box by cutting and pulling wires out of it. Upon arrival, police found a male in possession of wire snips and electrical wires, despite not being authorized to work on the electrical box.

Wellington STAATS, a 36-year-old, from Ohsweken, has been charged with Mischief Under $5000. Staats has been provided a court date of June 28, 2024 to answer to the charges.

This incident underscores the importance of promptly reporting suspicious activities and the diligent response of law enforcement in ensuring public safety. The Ontario Provincial Police reminds everyone to remain vigilant in protecting community property and promptly report any suspicious behavior to authorities.
