BPS search for suspects who fled from police officers

Brantford Police ServiceBPS search for suspects who fled from police officers

Two men remain outstanding after a vehicle fled from police and drove into a Brant Avenue residence. Officers are seeking information from the public to help identify these two suspects.

On Sunday, January 18, 2026, at approximately 2:15 a.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Brant Avenue and Dalhousie Street. The vehicle, occupied by four men, was stopped by police as it was travelling well below the speed limit and officers were attempting to confirm sobriety of the driver.

During the traffic stop, the driver drove away at a very high rate of speed, fleeing the traffic stop and running a red light in the process. Out of concern for public safety, officers did not pursue the vehicle.

At approximately 2:20 a.m., the vehicle collided into a residence located at Brant Avenue and St. Paul Avenue. The residence sustained minor damage. A utility box and street intersection sign were also damaged as a result of the incident.

Officers arrived on scene and found the driver and two of the vehicle’s occupants had fled on foot. One man was located seated in the driver’s seat and was taken into custody without incident. Investigation confirmed that this individual was not the driver of the vehicle. As a result, a 19-year-old man from Mississauga stands charged with one count of Obstruct Peace Officer.

A K-9 track occurred to locate the men who fled the scene. PSD Mack successfully located one of the men at a nearby location.

Two remaining suspects, the male driver and one male passenger, remain outstanding. Police are requesting anyone with information that would help to identify these individuals or anyone with video footage of the collision to contact Constable Armstrong of the Brantford Police Service at 519-756-7050 extension 2961.
