Big Cityyy Arts presents a Valentine’s themed Burlesque Revue show

Arts and EntertainmentBig Cityyy Arts presents a Valentine’s themed Burlesque Revue show

Big Cityyy Arts is putting on a special Valentine’s Burlesque Revue show at the Dog-Eared Café in Paris on Saturday, February 11, 2023.

Rubyyy Jones, a long-time burlesque performer and their partner Prinx Lydia, a costume maker and designer, are planning for a night of entertainment to celebrate the holiday.

Whether you’re celebrating romance, friendship or even being single – the night is being offered as an intimate, unique and fun way to celebrate Valentine’s weekend.

The show is set to have a variety of performances split into three parts to allow attendees to mingle and get refreshments in between.

“We’re going to have a good range of performances on the night from myself being very silly and very anarchic, to our performers being more beautiful, elegant and sensual,” said Jones. “And because they have a long history together, I’m also going to have some Drag Queens there doing their thing because to me, drag and burlesque go hand-in-hand. We’ve been sister industries for so long and I wouldn’t want to do a burlesque show without drag.”

While very similar, the arts of burlesque and drag are different in certain ways.

“Burlesque is an art form that involves revealing oneself, whether that’s your physical body or your spiritual body,” Jones said. “It’s much more centered around movements and costume, whereas drag is much more about playing with, and exploring gender and may include a song or lip sync. To be honest, there’s burlesque performers who lip sync and drag performers who take stuff off – so it’s become wonderfully blended nowadays.”

After the show, there will be a DJ as the floor opens for dancing until closing time.

A bar will be available throughout the night serving alcoholic beverages and treats. A handmade charcuterie board is available for pre-order and guests can choose between a meat or a veggie option.

While the $50 general admission tickets have now sold out, the $69 VIP tickets are still available and offer early admission, velvet sofa seating, front row action, a goodie bag with handmade local treats and sweets, as well as a photo with a performer of your choice.

Performers for the night will include: Rubyyy Jones, Ruby Krueger, MsChaos Divine, Blair Bitch and Gothika Jones.

Doors open at 7:30 p.m., the show will run from 8:00 – 10:30 p.m. and the dance floor will be open until midnight.
