Arcady to host Garden Walk concert on August 26

Arts and EntertainmentArcady to host Garden Walk concert on August 26

Enjoy the perfect blend of nature and music during Arcady’s concert A Garden Walk on Saturday, August 26, 2023.

Arcady’s troupe of top-tier musicians will return to Whistling Gardens for a unique display of Canadian artistry. This event will take place at 4 pm and will precede Whistling Gardens’ fantastical Festival Fountains.

“Over 100 fountains are illuminated with custom-built fountain lights, the first computerized fountain pumps imported into Canada
developed in Germany, and using various styles of lighting, including fibre optics and lasers that are all controlled with state-of-the-art software” (whistlinggardens.ca).

Included in this event will be Arcady’s annual silent auction. It will feature spectacular workmanship from the finest local artists along with gift cards to Brantford’s small businesses and prints of stunning art and nature photography.

The highlight of the A Garden Walk program will be a unique and incredibly atmospheric sonic experience by Arcady’s artistic director, Ronald Beckett. As patrons wander through Whistling Gardens’ 22-acre paradise, they will be serenaded by a variety of Arcady vocalists and instrumentalists, who will be scattered across the gardens and whose individual musical lines will interact with one another organically.

If patrons prefer to remain stationary in the comfort of the amphitheatre, that is also an option, as the performers will routinely rotate positions. Inspired by the sensational scenery of Whistling Gardens, the music is reminiscent of natural soundscapes and will invoke the serenity of a peaceful walk in nature.

This concert will feature well-loved Arcady sopranos Cristina Pisani and Michaela Chiste along with Emerging Artist and countertenor Rain Saran Senavinin from Thailand. Patrons will also be treated to a chamber ensemble including Linda Choi (violin) Sonya Nanos (cello), Kaye Royer (clarinet), Anna Norris (bassoon), Lisa Hartl (trumpet), and Emerging Artists Maggie Umanetz-Lertprasopsak (flute) and Tyler Romseberg (oboe).

Arcady performs throughout South Western Ontario presenting concerts that range from vocal and instrumental recitals to full-scale stage productions with orchestra. The company combines established professionals, recent university performance graduates, Emerging Artists, and youth, thus providing performance opportunities for young performers who are at the early stages of their professional careers.

The organization is dedicated to the mentorship of youth and Emerging Artists and the performance of new Canadian music, specializing in the works of Ronald Beckett. For more information visit www.arcady.ca
