Brantford Police Service responded to the area of Mohawk Street and Morrison Road for a report of a weapons offence involving a male brandishing a knife at a security guard who caught him trespassing on the property at 12:39 a.m. on Sunday, August 2, 2026.
Police arrived on scene and received information that the suspect had fled on foot towards a dense wooded area nearby prompting officers to establish containment and deploy the Brantford Police Service K-9 Unit.
The search was led by Police Service Dog (PSD) Mack, a K-9 handler and members of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) into the thick brush with support from patrol officers on containment to locate the suspect.
Despite the rainy conditions, PSD Mack quickly located and apprehended the suspect successfully and was placed into custody without further incident.
As a result of the investigation, a 41-year old Brantford man has been charged with multiple criminal code offences;
· Probation Order: Non-Compliance x2
· Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
The suspect was transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries and has a mandatory court date in October 2026.
