while conducting general foot patrol in the area of Queen Street and Dalhousie Street, officers with the Brantford Police Service Downtown Core Engagement Response Team observed a male who was identified as having an active warrant for his arrest at approximately 5:05 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2026.

The accused was arrested. Search incident to arrest located amounts of crystal methamphetamine and fentanyl in his possession.

The accused’s arrest warrant was granted by the courts in relation to an assault that occurred July 14, 2026, at approximately 8:45 p.m., near Colborne Street and Fordview Drive. The accused was reported to have assaulted an adult male with the blunt end of a hatchet. The two men were known to each other. The victim received minor physical injuries which he did not seek medical assistance for. 

As a result, a 41-year-old man from Brantford stands charged with the following:

  • Possession of a Controlled Substance x 2
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Disobey Court Order

The accused was held for bail.
