Members of the Brantford Police Service were conducting an investigation involving a stolen vehicle that had been involved in a collision in the area of Hamilton Avenue and Colborne Street at approximately 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2026.
Following the collision, the driver fled the scene on foot. The stolen vehicle was subsequently recovered at this location.
While officers continued the investigation, they observed a second vehicle circling the area and conducted a traffic stop. During the stop, officers located and arrested the driver of the stolen vehicle, along with a second male occupant.
As a result of the investigation and a subsequent search, officers seized 130 grams of methamphetamine. The occupant of the vehicle, a 40-year-old Brantford man, was arrested and charged with one count of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking.
Further investigation revealed that the driver of the stolen vehicle was in possession of the following:
- 11.2 grams of crystal methamphetamine
- 3.8 grams of fentanyl
- 0.8 grams of cocaine
As a result, a 34-year-old Brantford man was arrested and charged with the following:
- Fail to Remain
- Drive Motor Vehicle with No Licence
- Fail to Report Accident
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
- Possession of a Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Schedule I Substance (three counts)
Both of the accused men were held for bail.
