A Brantford Police Officer was conducting a general proactive patrol in the area of Stanley Street and Dalhousie Street when a suspicious vehicle was located idling with a male driver asleep in the front seat at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 21, 2026.

Police contained the vehicle to prevent a pursuit while officers made contact with the driver to ensure his well-being. As police approached, a wooden stock of a rifle was observed in plain view in the rear seat of the vehicle.

The male was removed safely from the driver’s seat by police and arrested without incident. Search incident to arrest revealed the male to be in possession of approximately 3.7 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine. Additionally, over 240 rounds of ammunition were located inside the vehicle.

As a result, a 21-year-old male from Pickering is facing numerous Criminal Code Offences;

1)    CC 94(1) Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle 
2)    CC 91 Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
3)    CC 86(1) Careless Use of a Firearm
4)    CC 86(2) Careless Storage of a Firearm
5)    CC 100(2) Possession for the Purpose of Weapons Trafficking
6)    CC 145(4)a) Fail to Comply with Undertaking – Police Release
7)    CDSA 4(1) Possession of a Controlled Substance – Crystal Meth

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing in relations to these charges.
