Brantford Police Service responded to a report of a suspicious male on the roof of a church at approximately 12:57 p.m. on Tuesday December 9, 2025.

Church staff observed an unknown individual accessing the rooftop near the building’s air-conditioning units. Upon arrival, officers located a male crouched behind large rooftop air-conditioning units inside a black wire-caged area. Officers observed that the padlock securing the enclosure had been cut and pried open. The male was seen actively cutting copper lines connected to the air-conditioning system using bolt cutters, which were recovered at the scene.

The accused male was subsequently arrested without incident, and as a result of this investigation, a 30-year old male stands charged with:

1)    Mischief Over $5000, Sec. 430(3)(a), Criminal Code of Canada

2)    Possession of Break In Instruments, Sec. 351(1), Criminal Code of Canada

The accused was released by way of a Form 10 (Undertaking).
