Members of the Brantford Police Core Engagement and Response Team seized over $25,000 in illegal psilocybin (magic mushrooms) and arrested a 39-year-old woman from Brantford for trafficking after executing a fourth search warrant at an illegal retail psilocybin storefront in Brantford.

The BPS Core Engagement and Response Team initiated an investigation into an illegal psilocybin store which had re-opened at a Murray Street location. This illegal retail business had been previously shut down by police on three other occasions.

On Friday, October 3, 2025, members of the BPS Core Engagement and Response Team executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act section 11 search warrant at the business.

Police seized a total of 2319 grams of suspected psilocybin with an estimated street value of $25,000.

As a result of the investigation, a 39-year-old woman from Brantford stands charged with the following:

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking- Schedule III to wit: Psilocybin, Contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

At this time, the Brantford Police Service reminds the public that the sale and purchase of psilocybin (magic mushrooms) remains illegal in Canada. Psilocybin is a controlled substance under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, and possession, production, or trafficking of it can result in criminal charges.
