OPP charge Brant County resident in online child sexual exploitation investigation

CrimeOPP charge Brant County resident in online child sexual exploitation investigation

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Child Sexual Exploitation Unit, with the assistance of OPP Digital Forensics, Brant County OPP, West Region Criminal Operations, the Toronto Police Service, the Branford Police Service and several international policing partners, have arrested a Brant County resident following a prolonged investigation into online child sexual exploitation.

On December 4, 2024, a search warrant was executed at a residence in Brant County and a quantity of electronic devices were seized. As a result of this investigation, a 35-year-old suspect was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Making Child Pornography, section 163.1(2)
  • Possession of Child Pornography, section 163.1(4)
  • Making Available Child Pornography, section 163.1(3)
  • Accessing Child Pornography, section 163.1(4.1)
  • Sexual Assault, 271
  • Sexual Interference, section 151.

“This investigation highlights the importance of collaborative efforts among law enforcement in combating online child exploitation. Only through continued cooperation can we effectively protect the most vulnerable and ensure a safer digital world for our children,” said Detective Staff Sergeant Chris Barkey, Child Sexual Exploitation Unit
