Via Rail trains 82 and 83 set to resume service in Brantford

Local NewsVia Rail trains 82 and 83 set to resume service in Brantford

Months after Brantford commuters called for routes to be reinstated, Via Rail has announced that trains 82 and 83 will be returning to Brantford as of Tuesday.

The daily 6:25 a.m. service from London to Toronto was a popular ride until it was shut down during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Frequent riders said that the nearly two and a half hours commute one way without the service was simply too much.

Back in June, protestors held a rally outside of the Brantford Station calling for the return of train 82. The protest brought together local leaders and commuters who travel to Toronto for work, demanding that the route be reinstated.

The first train back was expected to arrive in Brantford at 7:28 a.m. Tuesday morning before reaching Toronto around 8:35 a.m.
