Brant OPPHamilton man charged after reaching 180km/h on Highway 403

A Hamilton resident is facing charges following a traffic stop on Highway 403 in Brant County.

On June 29, 2023, at approximately 1:50 a.m., a member of the Brant Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting LiDAR enforcement on Highway 403. A motorist was stopped after speeds in excess of 180km/h were observed.    

Upon speaking to the driver of the vehicle, the officer administered a roadside Approved Screening Device (ASD) test. The driver was transported to detachment for further testing.

Jimmy KIPROP, 24-years-old of Hamilton, has been charged with the following:

  • Dangerous Operation of a motor vehicle
  • Operation While Impaired and,
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus)
  • Race a motor vehicle
  • Stunt Driving

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brantford on July 13th, 2023, to answer to the charges. A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per stature.
