Brantford Police Service41-year-old man facing multiple charges after robbery

Officers with the Brantford Police Service have arrested a man believed responsible for an August 8, 2023, robbery. 

On August 8, 2023, at approximately 5:00 a.m., uniform officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a Colborne Street motel after receiving a report of a robbery involving a firearm.

The accused is alleged to have attended the motel where he forcefully entered the victim’s unit, brandished a firearm, and robbed the victim of a small amount of money before fleeing on foot. No physical injuries were reported by the victim.

The Brantford Police Service High Enforcement Action Team (HEAT) conducted an investigation, located, and arrested the accused near Market Street South and Icomm Drive at approximately 11:45 a.m., August 8, 2023.

Information was received to indicate that the accused was currently in violation of a valid release order and two firearm prohibition orders.

Investigators received judicial authorization for a motor vehicle associated to the accused to be searched. The search was conducted August 10, 2023. Two firearms were located and seized. 

As a result of the investigation, a 41-year-old male resident of Brantford stands charged with the following Criminal Code offences: 

  • Break and enter dwelling house- commit indictable offence 
  • Robbery with a firearm 
  • Intimidation 
  • Point firearm 
  • Possess weapon for a dangerous purpose 
  • Firearm or weapon: possession contrary x 2
  • Fail to comply with judicial release x 2

The accused was held for bail.
