Brant OPPWingham resident facing charges after traffic stop

A Wingham resident is facing charges following a traffic stop on Highway 24 in Brant County.

On January 18, 2024, around 12:40 a.m., a Brant Detachment Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was conducting general patrol duties on Highway 24 in Brant County. During the patrol, the officer received a notification from the Automatic Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) system, alerting them to a suspended driver status associated with the registered owner of a passing motor vehicle.

As a result of the traffic stop, a 24-year-old from Wingham has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act with:

·        Driving While Under Suspension

·        Drive Motor Vehicle, No Currently Validated Permit

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brantford on February 29, 2024, to answer to the charges.
