Wayne Gretzky Parkway overpass hit by transport truck

Brant OPPWayne Gretzky Parkway overpass hit by transport truck

Members of the Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating an incident involving a transport truck carrying an excavator that struck the Wayne Gretzky Parkway overpass on Highway 403 westbound at 11:21 a.m. on Monday, March 10, 2025.

The collision occurred when the excavator boom was left in a raised position, causing it to impact the bridge structure. No injuries have been reported, though one vehicle was struck by debris, resulting in a broken windshield. The excavator sustained damage, while the transport truck itself was minimally affected.

As a result of the investigation, the driver of the transport truck has been charged with driving while under suspension. Additional charges are pending from the Commercial Motor Vehicle Inspector as the investigation continues.

The Ministry of Transportation (MTO) conducted a safety inspection of the bridge before the roadway was reopened. Highway 403 westbound remained closed for part of the day and was reopened around 7:00 p.m. once the structural assessment was completed.
