Brant OPPTwo Cambridge teens facing drug charges after traffic stop

Two suspects from Cambridge are facing charges under the Cannabis Act after a concerned citizen reported suspicious activity in the Village of St. George Tuesday evening.

On Tuesday February 14, 2023, at approximately 10:37 p.m., an officer with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Brant County Detachment initiated a traffic stop on King William Street in the County of Brant.

The officer was responding to a suspicious vehicle complaint received from a citizen who observed activity near a motor vehicle that caused them to be concerned. The two occupants of the vehicle were arrested and transported to Brant County detachment.

Police have charged an 18-year-old from Cambridge with the following offences:

·        Possession for the purpose of distributing and

·        Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling.

Police have charged a 19-year-old from Cambridge with the following offences:

·        Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available,

·        Possession for the purpose of distributing and

·        Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling.

The accused are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Brantford at a later date.
