St. Michael’s College School (SMCS) and the Basilian Fathers announced the appointment of Philip Wilson as the school’s 32nd principal on Wednesday, March 4, 2026.
Wilson currently serves as Superintendent of Education with the Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board (BHNCDSB), where he provides system-level leadership in student achievement, faith formation, co-curricular programming and complex operational matters.
“On behalf of St. Michael’s College School and the Basilian Fathers, we are delighted to welcome Mr. Wilson to our community,” says Fr. Andrew Leung, CSB, President. “He brings a strong faith-centred leadership approach and a demonstrated commitment to academic excellence, equity, and the holistic formation of students. We look forward to his leadership as we continue our mission of excellence in Catholic boys’ education.”
With more than 25 years of experience in education, Wilson has served as a teacher, vice-principal, principal, and superintendent. As a school principal, he led diverse learning communities where academic growth and co-curricular excellence were deeply integrated. He created innovative programmes to support student-athletes excel academically and athletically, with a focus on character development. His work in equity, special education, and student achievement reinforces excellence and inclusion as complementary commitments rooted in the Catholic call to honour the dignity of every person.
He has also supported school leaders and staff across elementary and secondary schools in instructional leadership and student success.
Rooted in Catholic faith and inspired by the Basilian tradition, Wilson’s leadership emphasizes presence, service, and accompaniment. Early in his vocation, Wilson had the opportunity to work alongside the Basilian Fathers, influencing his enduring commitment to the formation of young men through faith, discipline, and community.

SMCS looks forward to a collaborative and seamless transition with current Principal Pat Daly in the months ahead and to welcoming Wilson in his new role in August 2026.
