Smithville woman charged with Impaired Driving after hit and run

CrimeSmithville woman charged with Impaired Driving after hit and run
Officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend the area of Colborne Street near Clara Crescent regarding a motor vehicle hit and run at approximately 5:00 a.m. on Sunday, January 23.
Information was received to indicate that a vehicle had struck a parked van, causing damage, and then left the scene. The suspect vehicle was observed travelling towards Wayne Gretzky Parkway.
Officers located the suspect vehicle on Wayne Gretzky Parkway with significant damage. The vehicle was running and occupied by a sole, female occupant. In speaking with the female, officers observed signs of intoxication.
Officers administered an Approved Screening Device, which the accused failed. The accused was then arrested and transported to provide samples of her breath as required by law. Both samples provided were over twice the legal limit.
As a result, a 39-year-old female from Smithville, stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:
  • 80 Plus
  • Fail to Stop after Accident
  • Impaired Operation 

Additionally, a license suspension was issued, and the vehicle impounded as per law.
