Six Nations Police conducted a Back to School Traffic Safety Initiative from Tuesday, September 3 through Friday, September 6, 2024.  

On Tuesday, September 3, 2024, Six Nations Police began enhanced traffic enforcement measures to ensure the safety of the Six Nations community while children were travelling to and from school. Police focused on school zones around several local schools.  

As a result of the traffic enforcement, a total of 69 charges were laid:

– 1 charge of Operation While Prohibited – Criminal Code 

– 59 charges for Speeding – Highway Traffic Act 

– 2 charges for Use Plate not Authorized for Vehicle – Highway Traffic Act

– 2 charges for Drive No Licence – Highway Traffic Act 

– 1 charge for Drive While Under Suspension – Highway Traffic Act

– 1 charge for Drive – Hand-Held Communication Device – Highway Traffic Act

– 2 charges for Drive Motor Vehicle, no Currently Validated Permit – Highway  Traffic Act 

– 1 charge for Operate Motor Vehicle without Insurance – Compulsory Automobile  Insurance Act 

Police also issued 12 warnings for Stunt Driving. Two vehicles were towed, and one vehicle was impounded for 45 days. 

The traffic initiative will continue the week of September 9 through September 13, 2024.
