Six Nations addresses cannabis distribution during Santa Claus Parade

Local NewsSix Nations addresses cannabis distribution during Santa Claus Parade

Six Nations of the Grand River Elected Council addressed the distribution of cannabis products during their annual Santa Claus Parade on Saturday, November 18, 2023.

An issue arose during the annual Santa Claus Parade, where one cannabis business distributed their products to paradegoers.

Six Nations of the Grand River Elected Council (SNGREC), nor the organizers, knew this was going on until community members had informed them.

SNGREC does not encourage the distribution of cannabis products during any public event, especially when it involves the youth of Six Nations of the Grand River.

“Distributing cannabis products during public events puts the safety of community members at risk,” Chief Sherri-Lyn Hill said. “Especially our youth. We encourage all members of our community, including businesses, to act responsibly when it comes to cannabis use. We will continue to work closely with the Six Nations Cannabis Commission to promote a safe and healthy community.
