Public members prevent person from driving impaired

Brant OPPPublic members prevent person from driving impaired

Members of the Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a suspected impaired driver at a business located on Brant County Road 18 at approximately 7:48 a.m. on Friday, August 15, 2025.

Before officers arrived, concerned members of the public took decisive action to prevent the vehicle from leaving the parking lot, ensuring the safety of others on the road.

Following a police investigation, Manuel Escobar, 78-years-old, from Cambridge, was taken into custody and charged with the following offences:

  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration Over 80
  • Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Driving a Motor Vehicle with Liquor Readily Available

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brantford on August 28, 2025.
