Police charge man with weapons offence

On Friday, December 31, 2021, officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a weapons related call for service in the area of Queen Street and Darling Street.
Investigation revealed that a man was engaged in a verbal altercation with an unknown victim. The accused man was then observed by a witness to brandish a knife towards the victim in a dangerous manner. No physical injuries were received by the victim. 
Police attended the scene, located, and arrested the accused. Search incident to arrest found the accused in possession of a knife.
As a result of the investigation, Deodato FERREIRA, 63, of Brantford, stands charged with:
• Weapons Dangerous – contrary to the Criminal Code.
