CrimePedestrian dead after hit-and-run in Norfolk County: OPP

Ontario Provincial Police are investigating a hit-and-run in Norfolk County Tuesday morning that left a pedestrian dead.

OPP Const. Ed Sanchuk says a vehicle struck a person shortly before 5 a.m. on Indian Line in Townsend.

Indian Line is expected to remain closed between Mohawk and Villa Nova roads for the next six hours.

Police say the victim had life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital where they were pronounced dead.

Sanchuk says the victim cannot yet be identified until next of kin is notified.

Investigators are searching for a mid-sized white SUV with extensive front-end damage. The vehicle was last seen heading eastbound on Indian Line towards Hagersville.

Anyone that may have been travelling on Indian Line between Mohawk and Villa Nova roads between 4 a.m. and 5 a.m. is asked to contact police if they saw anything suspicious.
