Paris resident facing three charges after traffic complaint

Brant OPPParis resident facing three charges after traffic complaint

Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged a Paris Ontario resident with three criminal charges stemming from a traffic complaint.

Members of the Brant County OPP were advised of a traffic complaint concerning a possible impaired driver at approximately 8:45 p.m. on Thursday, February 6, 2025.

Officers located the vehicle on Grand River St N in Paris. As a result of the investigation, Damminda AMARSINGHA, 36-years-old from Paris, is charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Dangerous Operation
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood concentration (80 plus)

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Brantford on February 27, 2025.
