During the holiday season, the Six Nations Police conducted multiple Reduced Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E) programs around the Six  Nations territory.  

Officers of the Six Nations Police were switching locations of the program when they observed a vehicle driving erratically at approximately 6:50 p.m. on Saturday, December 21, 2024.

Police conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle and spoke with the female driver. Three children were observed in the vehicle. Officers advised the female that they were conducting R.I.D.E programs in the area and would be issuing an Approved Screening Device demand due to the driving behaviour observed.  

As a result of the investigation, police have arrested and charged a female from Ohsweken, Ontario with the following offences: 

– Impaired Operation 

– Alcohol per se Offence “80 plus” 

– Dangerous Driving  

– Necessaries of Life – Child or Spouse x 3  

– Operation while Prohibited  

– Driving while Suspended x 2  

The name of the accused will not be released to protect the identity of the children. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brantford, Ontario on a later date. The vehicle was impounded for 45 days.
