On Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at approximately 5:20 a.m., Brantford Police Service received a 911 call to report a disturbance occurring at a residence located on Woodlawn Avenue.
Officers arrived on scene at approximately 5:25 a.m. and determined an altercation had occurred involving two men, (ages 23 and 25), where the victim was allegedly struck in the head with a firearm. The victim received minor injuries from the altercation that did not require medical attention.
The firearm, allegedly used in the assault, was not located by police on initial investigation. In order to locate the outstanding firearm, a search warrant was applied for and granted.
On Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at approximately 2:45 p.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service executed a search warrant at the residence and located a replica firearm that was allegedly used by the accused in the assault.
Information received indicated that the accused was in violation of a valid undertaking and two outstanding warrants.
As a result of this investigation, a 23-year-old male stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:
•Assault with a weapon
•Failure to comply
•Using an Imitation Firearm in Commission of Offence
