International students coming to Brantford this fall

Local NewsInternational students coming to Brantford this fall

MLI Homestay announced a new partnership with the Grand Erie District School Board, welcoming high school international students from Spain and Switzerland to Brantford and Paris on Thursday, May 15, 2025.

This partnership will allow eight students to study at the following schools: Brantford Collegiate Institute and Vocational School, North Park Collegiate and Vocational School and Paris District High School. While attending school, students will stay with local hosts, gaining a truly authentic Canadian experience throughout their stay.

With this wonderful opportunity, we are inviting the Brantford community to consider hosting an international student for the 2025-2026 school year, from September through June.

Hosting an international student provides a unique chance for families to share in the joys of cultural exchange. Students will be able to experience the warmth of Canadian traditions, such as backyard barbecues, making s’mores by a bonfire, and enjoying maple syrup on pancakes, and of course seeing where Wayne Gretzky is from; moments that many students have only read about from Spain or Switzerland. These cultural experiences will create lasting memories for both students and their host families.

“This is a truly once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for both the students and their hosts,” said Cheryl Lee, COO of MLI Education Group. “We invite new hosts to join us in creating lifelong memories. The experience is transformative not just for the students, but for the families who open their homes. This will be the first time many of these students visit Canada and learn about our people and places.  We are excited to share this time with the community of Brantford.”

Families hosting students will have full support throughout the program, with a local coordinator available for assistance. Hosts will also receive compensation to help cover costs. For more information about becoming a host family in Brantford, please contact Katie at 905-531-4330 or kmayne@mlihomestay.com or visit www.mlihomestay.com/hosts
