Brant OPPImpaired Driving charges laid after single-vehicle collision

Members of the Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single-vehicle collision on King Edward Street in Paris, within the County of Brant at approximately 7:34 p.m. on Friday, July 11, 2025.

As a result of the investigation, one individual was taken into custody and transported to hospital for assessment.

Police have charged Darren MITCHELL, 37-years-old, of Paris, with the following offences under the Criminal Code:

  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol
  • Dangerous Operation
  • Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand

The accused was also charged under the Liquor Licence and Control Act with:

  • Driving a Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brantford on July 25, 2025.
