Rain and thunderstorms have delivered between 20 and 40 mm of rain to the northern half of the Grand River watershed causing increased flows in most watercourses.
There is more rain in the forecast, with up to 30 or 40 mm of precipitation expected on Wednesday, April 15, and Thursday, April 16, 2026. Some areas may see higher rainfall totals due to thunderstorms. No significant flooding is expected with this event, however, it is expected that the additional rain will increase river levels.
GRCA Reservoirs
GRCA reservoirs are at their normal operating level for this time of year and will be used to reduce the risk of downstream flooding.
Public Safety
Higher flows will increase the safety risk around rivers, streams, and waterbodies throughout the watershed. Banks adjacent to local waterways are very slippery and, when combined with cold, fast-moving water, pose a serious hazard. The public is encouraged to exercise extreme caution around local waterways.
River conditions and forecasts are being monitored closely, and additional flood messages will be issued as needed.
