The Grand Erie Board of Trustees elected Susan Gibson as the 2022 Chair of the Grand Erie District School Board during the annual Board Nomination and Organization meeting held on Monday, December 6.
Gibson, who represents the City of Brantford, previously held the position of Vice-Chair. Greg Anderson is the outgoing Chair. Brian Doyle, who represents the County of Haldimand, was elected to the position of Vice-
Chair for the coming year.
“It’s an honour to have the support of my fellow Trustees as we work to prioritize the goals of Grand Erie’s multi-year strategic plan and serve the students and families of this district,” said Gibson. “We’ve accomplished much together, and I look forward to working collaboratively to foster a culture of learning, well-being and belonging to inspire each learner.”
Gibson was first elected to the board in 2018. She has a more than two-decade career in health care, advocating for patients and their families. She has transferred that passion for helping others to her role as Trustee in public education, collaborating and problem-solving to support student success.
Also elected or acclaimed during Monday night’s meeting were: Tom Waldschmidt as Committee of the Whole Chair, Claudine VanEvery-Albert as Committee of the Whole Vice-Chair, Claudine VanEvery-Albert as Grand Erie’s Ontario Public School Board Association (OPSBA) Director/Voting Delegate, and Carol Ann Sloat as OPBSA Alternate Director/Alternate Voting Delegate.
Grand Erie District School Board’s inaugural meeting is scheduled for Monday, December 13 at 7:15 p.m.
