Grand Erie Public Health extends severe heat warning

Local NewsGrand Erie Public Health extends severe heat warning

The Medical Officer of Health for the Grand Erie Public Health issued an extended heat warning, effective June 24, 2025. The extended heat warning will remain in effect until a cancellation notice is issued.

The Medical Officer of Health will issue a heat warning when Environment and Climate Change Canada forecasts two consecutive days with a maximum daily temperature of 31°C or higher during the day and a minimum temperature of 20°C or higher during the evening, OR a humidex of 40°C or higher.

With rising summer temperatures, it’s important to take care of yourself and others. If you need a break from the heat, visit the following locations across the County to cool down, rest, and rehydrate:

  • Customer Service Offices – Open Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 am
  • Community Centres – Offering indoor space and a chance to cool off (hours vary)
  • Public Libraries – Welcoming spaces with free Wi-Fi, seating, and activities
  • Splash Pads & the Paris Community Pool – Fun for all ages and a great way to stay refreshed

Tips to stay safe in the heat:

  • Drink plenty of water
  • Avoid strenuous activity during peak sun hours (11 am – 3 pm)
  • Wear light, breathable clothing

Check in on family, friends, and neighbours; especially seniors or those living alone.
