Fundraising goal reached for Community Health Hub

County of BrantFundraising goal reached for Community Health Hub

The Cowan Community Health Hub has reached its $2 million fundraising goal as final donations were received early in December.

“It is with great pleasure that I announce the Health Hub campaign has successfully reached its $2 million dollar fundraising goal,” said Mayor David Bailey. “We are beyond grateful to the community for their incredible support to make the Health Hub a reality.”

A major donation was received in early December, helping to complete the campaign.

“I would like to recognize a major donation from Salah Bachir and Jacob Yerex in the amount of $250,000,” said Bailey. “This incredible donation will be honoured by naming the Health Hub community room ‘The Bachir/Yerex Community Room’.”

“We are honoured to be part of this great initiative and congratulate everyone on their hard work. We thought this would be a perfect holiday gift to our families and community,” said Bachir.

The Health Hub located at 25 Curtis Ave. N., Paris, opened on Monday, November 29, 2021. It is designed to increase access to quality health care and social services in the community.

The 41,365 square-foot hub is comprised of sustainable design features such as a vegetated “green” roof, highly insulated building envelope, solar panels, electric vehicle charging stations, and energy-efficient fixtures and equipment.

The Health Hub cost $13 million to build. A $2 million fundraising campaign was launched in early 2021 and was generously supported by the community.

“On behalf of the County of Brant, I would like to thank the donors, the community, the fundraising committee and everyone involved who made this happen,” said Bailey. “You are outstanding.”
