FeaturesFive Oaks hosting workshops and events throughout February

The Five Oaks Education and Retreat Centre in Paris is hosting a number of online workshops and events throughout the month of February.

Family Fun Day

Five Oaks Education and Retreat Centre is hosting a day filled with family fun on February 19. A number of winter activities will be available including sledding, snowshoeing, winter crafts and a story walk. Participants can warm up by a winter fire and roast hot dogs over the flames.

Write from the Heart

A three-week creative writing workshop with multidisciplinary artist and writer Hanan Hazime. Explore the heartfelt poetry of writers from around the world, including Nizar Qabbani, Pablo Neruda, and Margaret Atwood. Participants will be guided through creative writing prompts that will encourage self-care, self-love, love, empathy, and community connection. This workshop is open to participants aged 15 and up, no writing experience required.

Books and Coffee

A month-long book club led by Nazra Ranmall. Read The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy and explore the story of forbidden love and piercing political drama, centered on an affluent Indian family that is forever changed by a visit from their English relatives.

Sister Water and The Sultan

Another online book club throughout the month of February, reading Sister Water and the Sultan by Francis of Assisi. Find answers to questions like, “How do we live lovingly with each other – especially as we are divided by culture, nationality, religion and more?” and “How do we live responsibly and lovingly with the natural world?” through the guided retreat by Len Desroches

These events and other upcoming events can be found on the Five Oaks program website.
