The City of Brantford and the County of Brant are hosting a variety of activities to do with your loved ones this upcoming Family Day weekend.

Families are invited to two blocks of public swimming at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre on Monday, February 21. The first is from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and the second is from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Pre-registration on the city’s website is required for this activity and regular swim admission rates apply.

“We are pleased to continue offering public swimming,” Judy Wong Page said, Manager of Aquatics and Fitness for the City of Brantford. “It’s a great way for families to connect in a warm climate, to practice their swimming skills and have fun.”

The City of Brantford’s mascot, Harmony Squirrel, is hosting a virtual hangout on Saturday, February 19 at 10 a.m. The free event is geared toward kids aged 10 and under and features half an hour of games, songs and story time. Pre-registration is required and can be done by emailing harmonysquirrel@brantford.ca.

Families are also encouraged to check out the outdoor ice rink at Harmony Square all weekend long. No registration is required and the rink is open 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, weather permitting.

The County of Brant is hosting public skating at all community centres on Monday, February 21. Families are asked to pre-register each attendee for the time and location due to capacity limitations. The Brant Sports Complex has four time slots available between 9:30 a.m. and noon, and the South Dumfries Community Centre and the Burford Community Centre each have two public skates between 9:30 a.m. and noon. The cost is $1 per person.
