County of BrantCounty of Brant issues notice of demolition

County of Brant would like to advise that a demolition permit for 3 and 7 Yeo Street in Paris was issued on Friday, March 15, 2024.

The majority of the demolition is planned to be completed by April 30, 2024. A Public Works permit was also issued for a sidewalk closure.

Prior to the demolition permit being issued, the owners of the property consulted with the Brant Heritage Committee and a heritage evaluation was completed. After careful consideration, the Committee did not recommend the designation of the building under the Ontario Heritage Act. A report, based on the discussions of the Heritage Committee was approved by Council at the November 28, 2023 meeting.

Through the permit holders, a notice of disruption letter was distributed to residents in the area in their mailbox. Through the demolition permit process, the owners of the property have provided a professional engineers demolition plan to safely remove the existing building materials and minimize the impact to the neighbouring properties.

The Building, Roads and By-law Enforcement Divisions continue to work together and monitor the contractor/ developer to ensure a safe and appropriate demolition environment.

To date, no development applications have been submitted for these properties. Development applications that are received follow a process which includes public input.
