County of Brant host groundbreaking for new community centre

CouncilCounty of Brant host groundbreaking for new community centre

County of Brant hosted a private groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the new Cainsville Community Centre, located at 15 Ewart Avenue, on Friday, November 5, 2021.

“Discussion and planning for a new Cainsville Community Centre has been underway for many years,” said Mayor David Bailey. “We are very pleased that today marks the beginning of the construction journey so residents can enjoy a beautiful, modern community centre in the near future.”

The proposal of a new community centre first came to Council in 2015, as the current Cainsville Community Centre is aging and no longer meets the community’s capacity needs. It was agreed upon, through public meetings, that a more modern and larger community centre to host community events and a gathering place for the community would benefit, not only, the Cainsville community but the County of Brant as a whole.

The proposed community centre will be a single story building, approximately 9000 square feet and include a community hall, meeting room, spacious lobby and outdoor covered patio.

The facility will feature sustainable design features such as energy efficient fixtures/equipment, a well-insulated building, as well as, an electric car charging station.

Reid and Deleye Contractors Ltd. was awarded the $5.1 million dollar construction tender. A fundraising campaign will be launched in the future to help offset the total building costs.
