Random Act of Kindness Day

Council declared February 17 Random Act of Kindness Day in the County of Brant. The day is organized and celebrated by the Brant Community Foundation, a charity serving Brantford, Brant County, Six Nations of the Grand River and Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, that builds community vitality.

The day is designed to recognize kindness and humanity within the community. Residents are encouraged to take part in random acts of kindness as a way to embrace kindness and pay “acts of kindness” forward as a key to achieving a better community.

Wear Red Canada Day

Mayor David Bailey proclaimed February 13 as Wear Red Canada Day in the County of Brant. Wear Red Canada Day is celebrated annually to raise awareness for all Canadians, but especially Canadian women, to be mindful, curious, and proactive in the management of their heart health and wellness.

Heart disease is the number one killer of women worldwide and the leading cause of premature death for Canadian women, a fact unknown to many women and their healthcare providers. The Canadian Women’s Heart Health Alliance organizes the event across Canada as they strive to see better prevention, diagnosis, and care and fewer women dying prematurely from heart disease.
