City of BrantfordCity of Brantford launches new grants and award program

City of Brantford is enhancing its support for local industry through the introduction of the City of Brantford Industrial Award, in partnership with the Chamber of Commerce Brantford-Brant, as well as launching new grant programs for industrial businesses.

“The City is committed to supporting local industry and promoting sustainable regional growth through new initiatives and strategic partnerships that enhance the business community and highlight the importance of skilled trades for future resilience,” says Mae Legg, Manager of Economic Development, City of Brantford.

This City of Brantford Industrial Award, developed in partnership with the Chamber of Commerce Brantford-Brant, recognizes outstanding mid-to-large industrial enterprises that have operated locally for at least five years and have made significant contributions towards innovation, sustainability, and vocational training. Eligibility criteria include demonstrated leadership in apprenticeship programs, creation of sustainable jobs in trades such as manufacturing and construction, strong employee and customer relations, environmental responsibility, and active community involvement. In January 2026, BML Multi-Trades Group Ltd., GrandBridge Energy, and Synergy MouldWorks Inc. were named as the finalists. BML Multi-Trades Group Ltd. was named this year’s award winner during the Chamber’s 42nd annual Business Excellence Awards on Thursday, May 7.

In addition to the new Industrial Award, the City has also launched new grant programs as part of its Economic Development Community Improvement Plan to support industrial businesses of all sizes. This includes new firms establishing their operations as well as existing businesses looking to expand their operations in Brantford. The Industrial Permit Reduction Grant will reduce building permit fees for eligible projects. The Industrial Tax Increment Grant will provide a 20 per cent rebate on property taxes resulting from the project, and the same proportion will be granted for a total of 10 years. These grant programs can be combined for the same project, providing significant support opportunities for existing and prospective industrial businesses in Brantford.
