City of Brantford and Discover Brantford are inviting residents and local businesses to take part in the Brantford is Bloomin’ campaign in support of the City’s participation in the 2025 Communities in Bloom competition.
“In 2024, the City of Brantford was recognized with an impressive four blooms in Ontario’s Communities in Bloom competition,” said Kimberley Wyskiel, Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Brantford. “Brantford also won the 2024 Criteria Awards for Floral Displays and the Miracle-Gro Best Garden Selection by Scotts Canada. The organizing committee is looking forward to once again welcoming the Communities in Bloom judges and showcasing Brantford’s beautiful gardens, maintained year-round by our skilled and dedicated horticultural staff.”
The Communities in Bloom judges will be visiting Brantford on August 14 and 15, 2025, to evaluate the City’s efforts across six key criteria including; community appearance, environmental action, heritage conservation, tree management and trails, landscape and, plant and floral displays. Participation in the Communities in Bloom program brings many benefits to the City, including increasing awareness of green and sustainable initiatives, enhanced tourism potential, environmental leadership, community engagement, and ongoing horticulture improvement.
The community is invited to visit selected locations that will be judged including:
- Lorne Park, 15 Colborne St. W.
- Glenhyrst Gardens, 20 Ava Rd.
- Waterworks Park, 400 Grand River Ave.
- Brantford City Hall, 58 Dalhousie St.
- Bell Homestead National Historic Site, 94 Tutela Heights Rd.
- Harmony Square, 89 Dalhousie St.
- Brant County War Memorial, 6 Dalhousie St.
- Bell Memorial, 41 West St.
- Prominence Point, 2 Brant Ave.
- Brantford Children’s Memorial Garden, intersection of Brant Ave. and Palmerston Ave.
“Brantford is Bloomin’ is a great opportunity for residents and businesses to showcase their creativity and community pride,” said Kara Davey, Manager of Tourism Culture and Sport for the City of Brantford. “Whether it’s planting flowers, decorating a storefront, or sharing garden photos online, every effort helps show what makes Brantford such a vibrant and welcoming place.”
Discover Brantford is inviting residents and businesses to participate in the campaign leading up to the judging period, in several ways. Residents with exceptional residential gardens are invited to share their photos on social media using the hashtag #BrantfordIsBloomin. Local businesses are invited to participate by adding Welcome Communities in Bloom Judges to their business signs, decorating their storefronts with floral displays, offering a product, service, or event with a floral theme, or just by offering a bloomin’ good deal. All businesses are welcome to participate and while supplies last, Discover Brantford will provide a free Brantford is Bloomin’ window decal to participating retailers.
